Vermont Woods Studios was founded in two fundamental principles: a desire to save the world’s forests , and a respect for high-quality craftsmanship.
We’ve added a few Vermont craftsmen over the years to our collection. They all design beautiful furniture and decor that are unique and high-quality. It’s difficult to overlook the impact that some of America’s most prominent designers have had on the furniture designs today.

Frank Lloyd Wright

Our Modern High Back Chairs are a replica of the High Back Chairs Frank Lloyd Wright created in the early 1900’s.
Frank Lloyd Wright (1867-1959), is one of the most famous architects of all time. Wright is often called the “father” of organic architecture because of his pioneering and defining the concept. Wright was the architect of more than 1000 structures throughout his career. Many of these buildings are historical icons.
Wright was most well-known for his contributions to furniture design. Many of Wright’s designs were inspired by the mission and craftsman movement in the early 1900’s. They featured the same vertical rectangular cuts that are common in furniture from that time. Wright went beyond the American Craftsman style and created his own unique designs for chairs, tables, etc.
Wright’s furniture designs evolved from being distinctly craftsman to what is now called mid century modern.

Gustav Stick ley may sound familiar because Stickley is one the most well-known names in American furniture. Gustav Stickley (1858-1942), a visionary designer and furniture maker, was an influential publisher who was instrumental in the introduction of the Arts and Crafts movement in America in the early 1900s. Stickley’s furniture designs included a lot of mission-style furniture, but he preferred the term “Craftsman Furniture” instead.
