Since LEGO began releasing sets under the Marvel brand with the 2012 release The Avengers the MCU sets has been a stronghold for the LEGO brand. LEGO has not really released any Marvel Comics sets, except for the Daily Bugle D2C set. Instead, they have focused on the Marvel Cinematic Universe releases. It’s been more than a decade since we got anything X-Men-related and we have never gotten anything Fantastic Four-related. To remedy the lack in LEGO sets of Marvel Comics minifigures, I have used parts from other LEGO sets to create a blueprint that will allow you to make your own comics character customs. Let’s get to the point.
Hawkeye
Hawkeye has been a favorite Marvel character in both the MCU as well as the comics. Although LEGO has released numerous Hawkeye minifigures over the years (all on the accuracy scale), LEGO
has never released a minifig version that is the best Hawkeye rendition. That would be the Hawkeye (2012) run Matt Fraction.
Fraction’s Hawkeye costume is a mix of a modern outfit (similar in style to that used in the Avengers) as well as his classic purple. This Hawkeye version requires Hawkeye, Huntress, and a dark brown short hair, with side part. The Hawkeye’s torso, head and quiver are all from Huntress. Huntress’ purple/black legs and arms are from Huntress. A black lightsaber blade, two black nozzles and two black hands can be used to build a brick compound bow. This bow can also be used with the Arrowverse characters that I wrote about a few weeks back. You could make it more accurate by using the dual-molded dark and light nougat arms. Unfortunately, I don’t have that part.
Symbiote Spider-Man
In fairness, LEGO did release a Symbiote spider-Man before but it was an exclusive to San Diego Comic Con. It’s not something that every LEGO Marvel fan could get their hands on. It is easy to create a Symbiote Spider-Man.
This black-clad, wall-crawler requires only two items. You will need the Venom minifigure from Firestar Toys and the Symbiote Spider-Man Head. You simply need to take Venom’s head off and replace it by the Firestar part. It’s super easy! It’s way cheaper than the rare LEGO version.
Black Panther
Black Panther is a minifigure that has been in production since 2016. It also features his MCU debut with Captain America, Civil War. LEGO captured King T’Challa’s look in his movies, which is the closest we’ve seen to a comic-accurate look from the 2020 Avengers line. However, I believe this is an interpretation of Square Enix’s Avengersgame.
You will need the 2020 Black Panther , the Black Panther , and the Batman cowl with short ears, open chin to make Marvel comics LEGO Black Panther. Black Panther is often depicted with a double cape. One that runs down the back and one that surrounds your neck. I think the Batman cowl, which can be found on most Batman sets since 2015, is more accurate to T’challa’s look that the LEGO sets’ horns. This is the LEGO Black Panther, a more royal and accurate Marvel comics version.
The Thing
As I stated in the opening, we’ve never received a LEGO version Marvel’s first family: The Fantastic Four. They were in the 2013 LEGO Marvel Superheroes but it’s not the same. With that in mind I tried to bring my favorite member from the Four to LEGO: The Thing.
This rock-skinned juggernaut will require a set of navy arms, a navy leg piece, a black utility strap, and a pair grey hands. Although it isn’t perfect, I think it’s close to the right way to achieve Thing’s orange hue. If LEGO ever released The Thing, would it be available in large-fig form? Nearly 100%. This will have to do until then.
Falcon
Falcon is this list’s closest comic-accurate character. However, it was designed to resemble Disney XD Avengers Assemble, and not the comics.
This custom Falcon minifigure is a combination of the Falcon minifigure-heads mentioned above and the Falcon exclusive minifigure pack from 2020 LEGO Store. The head, arms, and torso are from 2014’s Falcon. While the legs, torso, and hair are from the 2020 edition. A pair of yellow hands and thin red shoulder armour are also required. This Falcon version is fantastic!
Doc Sampson
Doc Sampson is one of the less well-known characters on this list. He’s a supporting cast member in many Incredible Hulk stories. This character is not likely to be made by LEGO, it’s obvious. However, the moment I received Jay Garrick in the DC CMF series I knew I had to make him.
To make Doc Sampson, you will need only four parts: 2012’s The Joker dark-green hair, an angry clone face, Jay Garrick ‘s torso and a pair blue legs. It’s that simple!
Iron Fist
Iron Fist hasn’t had a minifigure in its history since 2013. That one was based on Ultimate Spider-Man and not the comics. Iron Fist’s white suit is one of the newest creations of Marvel, having appeared in 2010. You will need the 2013 Iron Fist Head , Sensei Yan’s torso , Titanium Zne’s legsfrom 2016, the yellow/white dual molded arms of the Dog Sitter and two yellow power surges (mine were from 2018’s Ebony maw). This is a more obscure outfit, but it’s still very cool.
Sentry
The last but not the least is Sentry. This character, which Marvel attempted to imitate Superman, is a very interesting one. Sentry was first introduced in 2000. He was prominent in the Mid-2000s Dark Avengers storyline.
To make Sentry, you will need four parts: Thor’s hair, Sinestro’s legs and torso, Sinestro’s torso, and Sinestro’s face. A standard face is fine, but a standard clone face works just as well.
That’s it for now. Let me know if you have any suggestions for comics or other themes. Until next time, Ciao!
