Hello everyone!<\/span>\u00a0This is one of my greatest retrospectives!<\/span>\u00a0This series of articles is likely to last for at least two months because there’s so much I want to share about this wave.<\/span>\u00a0We will be discussing the LEGO Batman Movie, the greatest LEGO DC wave ever.<\/span>\u00a0Why?<\/span>\u00a0This theme is unmatched by any other set that has been based on TV, movies, or comics.<\/span>\u00a0Why?<\/span>\u00a0One word.<\/span>\u00a0Minifigures.<\/span>\u00a0This wave was the most detailed ever.<\/span>\u00a0Let’s get started!<\/span><\/p>\n

Although I did not think I would need one for this article I am now realizing that it is necessary to save everyone a lot of time.<\/span>\u00a0One Batman figure appears in almost every set of this wave.<\/span>\u00a0There are some slight differences because of a few variations in the faceprint.<\/span>\u00a0Instead of taking your time and mine to discuss these small details, I’ll simply say that it’s the same Batman figure with any of the many face variations.<\/span>\u00a0Enjoy.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Joker Balloon Escape (70900).<\/span><\/h2>\n

This $15 USD set was one of the most iconic.<\/span>\u00a0Based on the appearance of Batman in the movie, LEGO released our new\u00a0Batman<\/a>\u00a0figure.<\/span>\u00a0The cowl mould he used was the same as for previous black figures.<\/span>\u00a0He also had a gorgeous faceprint that wasn’t dark or pale.<\/span>\u00a0Due to the black printing on the top of the head, most Batman figures had horribly coloured faces.<\/span>\u00a0LEGO solved the problem by printing black on top a peach-coloured head.<\/span>\u00a0It was a simple, but significant change that made a huge difference to the character. I wonder why LEGO doesn\u2019t do this more often.<\/span>\u00a0LEGO also created a new mold for his belt that attaches to his legs.<\/span>\u00a0Finally, a grappling hook was added.<\/span><\/p>\n

The iconic\u00a0Joker<\/a>\u00a0from the LEGO Batman Movie Wave was also created with this set.<\/span>\u00a0He received a new hairpiece and one of their best Joker faces.<\/span>\u00a0He even had leg printing done on his torso, which was the famous purple color.<\/span>\u00a0These figures were a great way to start the wave.<\/span><\/p>\n

The set featured two different builds, something very different from your typical superhero set.<\/span>\u00a0Joker was seen with a balloon escape contraption at the beginning of the film.<\/span>\u00a0LEGO invented new balloon pieces.<\/span>\u00a0Another build was a small section of an industrial warehouse.<\/span>\u00a0This area had a play element.<\/span>\u00a0To explode the highly volatile container, place a bomb between the bars. Then, press down on the tile on the back.<\/span>\u00a0This was an incredible way to capture two iconic characters from the film.<\/span><\/p>\n

Mr.<\/span>\u00a0Freeze Ice Attack (70901)<\/span><\/h2>\n

Yes.<\/span>\u00a0Yes.<\/span>\u00a0This set included the\u00a0Batman<\/a>, which was the same figure as the previous set but with one variant of his face print.<\/span>\u00a0LEGO provided him with a Batarang and a flame thrower in order to defeat the villain’s powers.<\/span>\u00a0Mr.<\/span>\u00a0Freeze was beautiful.<\/span>\u00a0LEGO created its own version of the character using comics and other media.<\/span>\u00a0He was equipped with a helmet and torso.<\/span>\u00a0Und underneath was an incredible torso.<\/span>\u00a0Guess what?<\/span>\u00a0We got leg printing!<\/span>\u00a0This is why I loved this wave.<\/span>\u00a0LEGO put a lot of effort into these minifigures and it shows.<\/span>\u00a0The\u00a0security guard<\/a>\u00a0was the final minifigure.<\/span>\u00a0He was cool and had a torso print. He also came with a gun.<\/span><\/p>\n

Again, the builds were amazing.<\/span>\u00a0Although I don’t like mechs from the superhero series, I really love this one.<\/span>\u00a0It was not bulky or bulky.<\/span>\u00a0It was clear and to the point.<\/span>\u00a0It was possible to place Mr.<\/span>\u00a0Place Mr.<\/span>\u00a0One of the hands contained a large freeze gun with a stud shooter.<\/span>\u00a0A\u00a0ice room<\/a>\u00a0was the second, and it could be opened.<\/span>\u00a0To make it appear that he has froze to death, you could place the security guard inside.<\/span>\u00a0This final build was an extension of the ACE chemicals build discussed in the previous set.<\/span>\u00a0Although it didn’t include any play features, this one had many details.<\/span>\u00a0This was a really good set and I regret not getting it.<\/span><\/p>\n

Catwoman Catcycle Chase (7902)<\/span><\/h2>\n

Hear me now.<\/span>\u00a0This $20 USD beauty should be the benchmark for how any superhero LEGO set should look.<\/span>\u00a0The minifigures are amazing, and the builds are also great.<\/span>\u00a0The\u00a0Robin<\/a>\u00a0first figure was created by Dick Grayson.<\/span>\u00a0This was one of the most intricate Robin figures we have ever made.<\/span>\u00a0To match the movie’s design, LEGO made a new mold for his helmet and hair.<\/span>\u00a0It was a great mould and I loved the printing on his goggles.<\/span>\u00a0LEGO paired this tall-legged minifigure with an oversized cape as a design option.<\/span>\u00a0The torso print of the minifigure was vibrantly coloured. LEGO also gave him two moulded arms that could be used as sleeves.<\/span>\u00a0It didn’t end there.<\/span>\u00a0They printed his legs and then dual-molded it to complete the figure.<\/span>\u00a0LEGO makes great minifigures.<\/span><\/p>\n

Robin was only the beginning.<\/span>\u00a0After so many years, we received our second\u00a0Batgirl<\/a>.<\/span>\u00a0She was now covered in purple and yellow instead of her original black and yellow minifigure appearance.<\/span>\u00a0She received a new\u00a0helmet mold<\/a>\u00a0with a peg attachment at the back to attach a freshly moulded hairpiece.<\/span>\u00a0She was stunning on her torso, and she did come with sidearm printing.<\/span>\u00a0The same belt piece was given to her as Batman.<\/span>\u00a0LEGO also gave her side leg printing, dual moulded legs and front printing.<\/span>\u00a0Yes.<\/span>\u00a0They did everything.<\/span>\u00a0Oh.<\/span>\u00a0Yes.<\/span>\u00a0She was accompanied by two Batarangs.<\/span><\/p>\n

This set was completed with an incredible\u00a0Catwoman<\/a>\u00a0figure.<\/span>\u00a0Beautiful was the new\u00a0helmet<\/a>\u00a0mold.<\/span>\u00a0The cool face print was underneath, featuring beautiful green eyes.<\/span>\u00a0With her amazing sidearm printing, her torso print was very well done.<\/span>\u00a0It was a nice addition to the design, even though it was unnecessary.<\/span><\/p>\n

They were amazing to build!<\/span>\u00a0LEGO usually makes large bikes in sets of $20 USD.<\/span>\u00a0This was however perfectly sized.<\/span>\u00a0It was cool, even though there were no play options.<\/span>\u00a0You could even place Catwoman to ride into the scene.<\/span>\u00a0Another build was a nice jewelry store.<\/span>\u00a0When pressure was applied to the light pole, it could be dropped onto the bike.<\/span>\u00a0It was not play-friendly, but it was very well built.<\/span><\/p>\n

This concludes our first LEGO Batman Movie Retrospective.<\/span>\u00a0I can’t wait to get through the rest of these sets.<\/span>\u00a0Tomorrow morning, I have to get up at 4:45 for work.
