We are back with another LEGO DC retrospective.<\/span>\u00a0We’re flying through the years and the months of this theme.<\/span>\u00a0It’s almost June, which is mind-boggling!<\/span>\u00a0Today we will be looking at 2017.<\/span>\u00a02017 was a pretty boring year for LEGO DC.<\/span>\u00a0We received 7 sets.<\/span>\u00a0Since 2015, LEGO has really fallen behind.<\/span>\u00a0I will cover this year in two articles.<\/span>\u00a0Hidden in the lackluster year was a movie which sparked one, if not the biggest, wave of DC’s history.<\/span>\u00a0All of this will be revealed at the end of part 2.<\/span>\u00a0Let’s get started!<\/span><\/p>\n

Battle of Atlantis (76085).<\/span><\/h2>\n

It was beautiful but expensive.<\/span>\u00a0You would have thought that it would cost $15 USD at first glance.<\/span>\u00a0You would not get a set of this price if you had four figures and a small build.<\/span>\u00a0Similar sets like the “Iron Man Vs Ultron” and the “Avengers Outrider Dropship Attack” were released.<\/span>\u00a0This set looked like it was supposed to cost $15 USD.<\/span>\u00a0It was $20 USD, which surprised me.<\/span><\/p>\n

This set was\u00a0Aquaman\u2019s\u00a0first DCEU appearance.<\/span>\u00a0To match the movie’s style, LEGO created a new hairpiece with white streaks.<\/span>\u00a0His front and back faces were very different from Aquaman’s past Aquaman characters. They had brown hair colours.<\/span>\u00a0His torso and legs were identical to the armor he wore in the theatrical and mostly the Snyder versions of the film.<\/span>\u00a0The trident\u00a0he wore was made in gun metal gray and had a lightsaber blade attached at the bottom.<\/span>\u00a0He was given a power blast to use against the Parademon.<\/span><\/p>\n

The\u00a0Parademon<\/a>\u00a0was a detailed figure.<\/span>\u00a0It was nice to see this creature in action, even though we didn’t see any bright-yellow versions.<\/span>\u00a0The detail on the legs and torso was amazing, as well as the face print.<\/span>\u00a0LEGO didn’t stop there.<\/span>\u00a0These details were further extended to the wings.<\/span>\u00a0LEGO provided two of each variant of the wing in the set, totaling four.<\/span><\/p>\n

Two\u00a0Atlanteans<\/a>\u00a0were the final two figures in the set.<\/span>\u00a0The headpiece was made in very precise molds and was gold.<\/span>\u00a0They had identical torsos and leg prints, but they each had unique face printing.<\/span>\u00a0Let me just say how much effort the designers put into these minifigures.<\/span>\u00a0They all had leg printing!<\/span>\u00a0Leg printing!<\/span>\u00a0This is a rare feature in today’s superhero sets.<\/span>\u00a0They put so much passion into their minifigures, making Justice League Wave a sub-theme I will always remember for its amazing figures!<\/span><\/p>\n

The\u00a0set<\/a>\u00a0was also amazing!<\/span>\u00a0What could be better than a set?<\/span>\u00a0It was a diorama of a small area of Atlantis.<\/span>\u00a0The sand-blue pieces were used to make the pillars. It was a great idea.<\/span>\u00a0This set was made alive by the stickers and seaweed.<\/span>\u00a0A super jumper included in the set could be used to take the top of the main structure down.<\/span>\u00a0The set also included a display for the Mother Box Build in the middle.<\/span>\u00a0Overall, the set was solid and should be a source of pride for designers.<\/span><\/p>\n

Knightcrawler Tunnel Attack (76086)<\/span><\/h2>\n

It was also a solid set at $50 USD.<\/span>\u00a0Both the minifigures as well as the builds were amazing.<\/span>\u00a0LEGO created a new Batman to go with his DCEU appearance.<\/span>\u00a0His faceprint was updated with stubble and he came with a new faceprint.<\/span>\u00a0Although his torso looked the same as in 2016, his legs were printed and dual-molded.<\/span>\u00a0He was also equipped with a Grappling Hook and a Batarang.<\/span><\/p>\n

Another beautiful figure was the Flash<\/span>\u00a0He was actually a Firestar Toys figure that I bought recently.<\/span>\u00a0He is definitely my favorite figure from this wave.<\/span>\u00a0His appearance in the film was accurate to a great extent.<\/span>\u00a0To replicate the movie prop’s design, a completely new helmet was designed.<\/span>\u00a0The helmet featured the lightning bold inscribed on it.<\/span>\u00a0Two very cool prints were made on his face, as well as a nearly identical torso- and leg print.<\/span>\u00a0This figure is amazing.<\/span>\u00a0Really.<\/span>\u00a0This is my favorite DC figure.<\/span>\u00a0He was just so cool!<\/span>\u00a0To top it all, LEGO provided him with two power blast pieces that he could use to shoot at the Parademons in this set.<\/span><\/p>\n

We got a new variant of\u00a0Parademons<\/a>\u00a0in this set.<\/span>\u00a0The film didn’t contain any green Parademons.<\/span>\u00a0Amazing face print.<\/span>\u00a0The figure’s look was enhanced by every line and dot detail.<\/span>\u00a0Both the beautiful light and dark colors complimented each other perfectly.<\/span>\u00a0Similar printing was used on the torso as in the yellow version. It was just as detailed and had similar details, but it was mainly made of green.<\/span>\u00a0This effort was carried over to LEGO’s legs, making these figures extremely collectible.<\/span>\u00a0Both Parademons came with four pieces of wing each and a stud gun as weapons.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Knightcrawler.<\/span>\u00a0It was an unusual build and didn’t have the Batman look.<\/span>\u00a0It was still an impressive build that matched the film’s appearance very closely.<\/span>\u00a0It had two legs at the bottom. They were connected by massive hinge joints and could reproduce the movements of the real thing.<\/span>\u00a0It used a very unique piece of windscreen to design the cockpit.<\/span>\u00a0Batman could fit inside.<\/span>\u00a0The Knightcrawler was equipped with dual six-stud shooters that could rapidly fire 12 studs at enemy targets.<\/span>\u00a0It was actually quite a good set. LEGO worked hard to design amazing minifigures.<\/span>\u00a0The set also included a second Mother Box.<\/span><\/p>\n

After reviewing the Battle of Atlantis, it became clear that I could not possibly review all three LEGO DC Justice League sets 2017 in one article.<\/span>\u00a0Why?<\/span>\u00a0Maybe it’s because LEGO did an amazing job with this wave!<\/span>\u00a0We have received leg printing on every minifigure so far!<\/span>\u00a0What are the odds of this happening in any Marvel or DC wave?<\/span>\u00a0Do you?<\/span>\u00a0We are fortunate today that even half of the superhero figures get leg printing. It’s amazing to see all the work put into these minifigures.<\/span>\u00a0The builds were solid, not just the garbage-dumping LEGO loves to do.<\/span>\u00a0I appreciated their thought and thoughtful design decisions.<\/span><\/p>\n
